Rockclimbing is a dangerous sport, and climbing at crags listed in this guidebook is particularly hazardous, due to
many factors, including:
- The poor quality of much of the fixed protection.
- The poor quality of much of the rock.
- The degree of difficulty of many of the routes.
- The extremely steep nature of much of the rock.
- The proximity of the ocean.
- The dangerous access to the base of many of the cliffs.
- The difficulty of retreat from many of the routes.
- The minimal number of ascents many of these routes have had (in many cases just the first ascent).
- The prevalence of poisonous animals (particularly snakes and spiders) throughout the Sydney region.
This guide assumes that climbers who climb in these areas:
- have undergone formal training with an accredited instructor.
- have the necessary levels of experience and skill.
- will use the correct equipment.
- will take responsibility for their own personal safety.
- are aware of their legal rights and responsibilities. Climbers are responsible for their own
safety, and have a legal obligation to ensure the protection and safety of others.
- carry Public Risk Insurance cover.
