<text id="1" class="indentedHeader">There was little recorded climbing or bouldering in the Campbelltown region until recent times, which is surprising considering the amount of rock around. Almost all the creeks and rivers are rimmed by cliffs with high quality sandstone, including the Georges River and the Nepean River.

Of what has been done, details are sketchy and only the presence of rusting toprope bolts give a clue to an area's activity. The exception is The Woolwash, which had a mini guide written in the 1970's, although these days most people go there to boulder.
Until recently details of what has been are sketchy and only the presence of the odd rusting carrot toprope bolts give a clue to an area's activity. The exception is The Woolwash, which had a mini guide written in the 1970's, and with the discovery or re dicovery of 2 new sectors, "The Junkyard Cave" over 40 steep well bolted sport routes have been added to the area ranging from grade 14 - 29, and no doubt some of the best steep cave climbing in NSW.

Development in the South West has taken off with the discovery of a number of new areas with a reasonable amount of potential, such as the bouldering at Simmos beach in Macquarie Fields and Gunners Crags and The Hideaway with its 20m roof both near Ingleburn.

The quality of the bouldering at St Helens Park and the Wedderburn cave show but a small inkling of the potential for those that wish to explore with a pad and brush, with problems from V0 - V13.

No doubt with time and keen developers the area will contine to shine and provide Sydney with some quality crags.

Note that although Stanwell Tops appears on the region map here, its included in the Sutherland chapter as that's how you access it.
