Excellent crag, lots of fine looking routes, no mobile coverage, camping near by, some routes bolts vanish half way up...sorry can't remember which routes these were.
Nice Place to climb. Had some trouble finding routes properly. Thought we were on bushy corner at one stage and ended up on seior citz club without the cam needed. Some of the bolts are looking olds so take care.
Would be a really nice place if the bolts were updated.
Yep, the Edit This Guide button is waiting in excited anticipation.
I did some work at mandalay on sunday, being that there is no belay point at the top of bushies cnr i thought double ring bolt belay was a good call for this one (so i did it) i will now use this point to access where the tree is missing and put a glue in carrot there in trying to keep it in the same theme as the rest of the climb (still to do). Iv got some other work happening here too, il keep u posted. If climbing here check any of the dates on taped anchors b4 u clip.
Nice to know someone is putting in the effort there. After the last time i was there i discussed with a few people about re bolting the area.
Im a local around here (colo height) and iv been enjoying many others bolting efforts throughout aus so i thought it time to give a little back! Steve from climbing anchors was happy to supply me with 6 free rings for new lower offs when i ordered some rings of my own. Im happy to do as much as i can around my local crags to get a bit more trafic thru and keep the dirt out of the holds. Not sure how to ad new climbs to the guide but my offsider josh did ffa of my new climb in the rain cave this arvo (behind the toilet block) at mandalay today, Upside Down Miss Jane, 13mtr grade 23.Right hand side of cave 4 rings to doulble ring loweroff.
If your logged in mate at the top left there is a button "Edit this guide" then scroll down to where you think it fits in and insert a new climb and fill in the details. Give it a go and if you get it wrong im sure Stu will have a look and tidy it up.
I might wait to do the guide edit until i do a bit more work there, im keen to do a fair bit of work, those rings u got sure would be usefull as iv been busy with projects. Im guna give climbing anchors a call and order some more for my stuff and also see what steve might come to the party with, maybe some glue/mixing nozzels. Il be down there friday arvo for a while and also hope to get a few hours in over the weekend (weather pending). Iknow mike is ok about rings on his climbs and i think harry will be ok, any ideas about the others? Im not sure how to contact them?? Im ok to put in glue in carrots if thers an issue but they seem to cost allmost as much as 316 rings and thats before iv even got the grinder out to knoch them.
Edit is done, new loweroffs where tree used to be on bushies cnr, plus i put a glue in carrot about 2mtrs below this to avoid the runout, new double rings at the top of seniour citz slab. Plus climbs in the cave behind toilet block.
Hey there rock-monkeys, I've just moved to Colo (about 2 minutes drive from here) and have just been scouting around the local area for climbing spots. Went for a swim in the river the other day and was floating down admiring these cliffs. Can't wait to have at them. In any case I'd be open to climbing with like-minded folk around this area if you're happy to have someone else along. I have minimal gear (a few harnesses, chalk bags, a handful of cams, 75m static rope for top-roping) but am also happy to house/feed climbers in exchange for use of gear etc. I'd be really willing to do some work on the anchors but have never done it before, so if anyone is planning on climbing/maintaining and wanted a hand, I'd be grateful for the chance to learn.
-See you on the rock.
Hey matt, im at colo heights opp the servo, im allways keen for some help as it feels a bit strange dangling of a cliff with a hammer drill with no one else around. I can teach you whatever you wana know if your keen to lend a hand? Times are pretty random that i head down there so give me a buzz and we will chat. 0411510434
Climbed Space To Rent yesterday. no more trad. needs lot of hangers and a set of cams.
I was so scared at the top when i saw the two parted shiny-rusty bolts in cave as I could not work out how to make my/our anchor. I didn't know where the anchor was until the last move to peek out toward my right. The anchor was really hidden in the cave next door in which I was still not feel good when I saw rusty fat chain. Then there were two new shiny relatively-inconspicuous carrots inside the cave. relaxed finally. Thanks for bolting them. felt good as I had a rope protector with me up there. I could say it "DBB"
